Riau Province Offers to Host International Anti-Corruption Day

RADARPEKANBARU.COM - The province of Riau has proposed to host  International Anti-Corruption Day this year, its Governor Arsyadjuliandi Rachman said here on Wednesday.

"Riau is committed to fighting corruption and we have told the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) that we are keen to host International Anti-Corruption Day. The event will be of great benefit to us," Rachman said. Commemorating the day will reiterate the province s commitment to improving its bureaucracy and freeing it from corrupt practices.

"We have received the agenda of the event and will plan it together. We hope it will not be a just a ceremonial event but something that has long-term benefits in terms of improving the state s delivery system and reinforcing the culture of anti-corruption in both private and public space," the governor said.

Riau is one of the provinces that is under intensive supervision by the KPK. Preventive steps are being taken in various sectors particularly prone to corruption, Rachman said.(ant)
